With an impressive 47 million streams on Spotify and having productions landed on major sync deals with brands like Alienware, Nordstrom, the Netflix show “Lucifer” and so many more, you would be just as surprised as I was to learn that Britt Lari was on a completely different career track until about midway through college. Britt came onto Open Door Sessions Mastermind this week to share with us her story of how she went from a 15-year international elite gymnast, to struggling with finding her identity and purpose through college, to becoming a talented and successful singer, songwriter and producer.
With so many years of gymnastics, months of switching schools and trying to find a major she liked, following an artist’s path was not in the forefront of her mind at all. It’s almost as if the artist’s life found her when she constantly found herself songwriting and playing on the keyboard to take her mind off all of the stress. She and her friends would even get together and start changing lyrics on the radio to be more relatable just for fun! Everything changed when Ari Kyle and Adam Lilley, the duo that make up Medii, reached out to her to submit her top line for their music.
From here, Britt realized her identity through music. She now works independently as an artist and has had singles signed to major labels including Universal, Warner, Sony Music, and Armada Music, as well as features on SiriusXM and Kiss FM. Britt has also been placed on several different commercials, campaigns, and TV shows, showing an incredible versatility with her songwriting and productions!
Britt’s most recent release, “Wild”, is a production that she holds close to her heart as she had so much fun fully expressing herself and her personality with the singing and writing, incorporating the seductive saxophone sound inspired by one of her top role models Big Gigantic, and then actually getting to work with Dom Lalli himself to add his own touch of production to the song! She was beyond grateful and excited at this point in the production already when “Wild” then landed a sync placement on HBO Max’s “The Sex Lives of College Girls”. I just love what an expressive, passionate and empowering ride this song and its story takes you on. “Wild” is out now so make sure you give it a listen!
