18TH ANNUAL MOTION NOTION FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES EPIC LINEUP FEAT. HEADLINERS DATSIK, AVALON, KOAN SOUND, DIRTYPHONICS, CLOZEE + MANY MORE!

Motion Notion Music & Arts Festival – Golden, BC Canada – Canada’s world-class boutique music and camping festival, Motion Notion returns for its 18th year to the heart of the Rocky Mountains near Golden, BC featuring a wide spectrum of electronic music, art, nature and freedom. Taking place August 24-28, the 2017 lineup includes an eclectic mix of seasoned talent and the elite of the underground in electronic music including Datsik, Desert Dwellers, Koan Sound, Christian Martin, Clozee, Minnesota, K+Lab, and John 00 Fleming plus over 100 additional artists playing at three cutting-edge, awe-inspiring stages.

Found within the embrace of the festival grounds are stunning art installations, performers, entertainers, a bustling vendor village and a myriad of activities and workshops that guide participants’ journey to extend beyond the music. Yoga, fire dancing, crafting and music production classes top the list of activities to explore, adding to the overall immersive festival experience – unlike any other in North America. Camp within one of the most stunning mountainous settings on Earth, swim in crystal-clear river waters, dance around bonfires and experience heightened levels of energy, all while being welcomed by a vibrant community and extraordinary visual and aural artistry.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Canada, Motion Notion has arranged a lineup that showcases some of the finest talent born in the Great White North, with over ¾ of the roster repping Canada as their home country. Channeling the heartbeat of the Rocky Mountains is dubstep legend and Firepower label boss, Canadian-born Datsik along side his 2017 tour mate – violinist Kytami. Bringing a little of that funky Western Canadian flavor is Kelowna based producer/DJ Stickybuds. Known for creating unique blends of funk, reggae, drum n’ bass and broken beats, Stickybuds will be sure to keep it fresh and funky. Vancouver favorites, The Funk HuntersM, will also be on hand to infuse a little soul into the abundance of dance music, drawing inspiration from classic funk and hip-hop elevated with a heavy dose of bass. With two degrees from the Art Institute of Burnaby for Music Recording and Production, Calgary native LongwalkshortdockM brings a vast catalog that combines a heavy dose of drums and synths with rolling grooves and layers of melody.

In addition to the hometown pride, Motion Notion offers a huge lineup of international DJs. Psytrance powerhouse Avalon will be on hand with plenty of otherworldly vibes. Joining the ranks of 2017 headliners is OWSLA’s Koan Sound alongside fellow labelmates The M Machine, whose signature sound of melodic and upbeat underground House is sure to win the crowd’s hearts. Delivering slamming Drum & Bass beats and the heaviest of basslines to the spellbinding grounds is Dim Mak’s own Dirtyphonics. And it wouldn’t be a Psytrance festival without the underground leader of the genre John 00 Fleming (aka J00F) re-joining the ranks of this year’s artists.

Embarking into a new era, Motion Notion is shifting its vision to welcome a more diverse musical curation, inviting an enticing mix of genres to perform, including over 30 House artists like Ben Annand, the ever eclectic and funky Dirtybird artists Christian Martin and Worthy, and beatboxing phenomenon 80Fitz as he makes his worldwide festival debut. Elevating the good vibes with potent feminine energy are powerhouse leading ladies – psychedelic Glitch-Hop beat architect Eve Olution (alongside partner Kalya Scintilla), and French sensation CloZee making “beats de la coeur”. Winner of PLAY Motion Notion contest Alex Mei will make her MoNo debut, having been voted to the top by fans and a judging panel featuring VICE, Thump, Fest300, Danio Management, Creative BC, Westwood Recordings, and Betty & Kora held in conjunction with Do604.
