Ray Volpe, which is also his real name, has been a rising star in the past couple years. In 2022, his “Laserbeam” took the dance scene by storm. Since its release, the song has been played by many of the biggest names, including but not limited to: Illenium, Excision, and Skrillex. And just this past May 2023, he’d made his EDC Las Vegas debut at the heavy-hitting Basspod stage. However, Ray Volpe’s insane traction is only the tip of the iceberg of his music journey as he opened up in our interview about his slump in 2019 (more details in interview below).

During the interview at Ubbi Dubbi, I sat down with Ray and learned about how his music journey started as a 12 year old making video game montages, some of his favorite and most challenging moments of being in the industry, mental health, how his collaboration with Marshmello came to be, how he conceptualized “Laserbeam,” his production process, the characteristics and attributes that have contributed to where he is today, his advice for aspiring producers, and some really exciting things coming up for him in 2023: a new EP, another headlining tour in the Fall, and more festivals (including Tomorrowland).

To wrap up, I asked Ray what he’s really grateful for. He responded: “My team. I would probably be dead without them, like genuinely. I’m nothing without them.”

And he notes with a laugh – “what a sad ending!”
