I’m a huge geek by nature having worked at Gamestop for multiple years as well as attending school for video game art design. This is why Pixel Terror first caught my eye. I was browsing through Soundcloud one day when I came across one of their originals, “Evolution.” The cover art for the track was a drawing of Charmander (maybe my favorite pokemon!) and Koffing with the hashtag “pokestep”. Needless to say, I had to listen, and I’m SO happy I did!
Pixel Terror duo, Bentley Montes & Ahrya Far play bass heavy music with an emphasis on dubstep and trap taking inspirations from chiptune (think 8-bit video game!) elements, but they aren’t afraid to mix in other genres as well. In fact one of the reasons I have grown to love Pixel Terror so much is the variation in their music even within a single track. Going from a dubstep drop into a trap drop or from trap into hardstyle to produce a truly unique sound that is hard to find anywhere else.
Their latest release “Pixel Terror & Pals Vol 2” is an incredible follow-up to Vol. 1 of which I honestly can’t count the number of times I have listened to since discovering these two a couple months ago. Check it out below and find out why I can’t stop talking about these guys!
