While a dress code defines clothing expectations based on social norms, Mau P’s intent for his Black Book Records debut track, ‘Dress Code,’ is to celebrate the exact opposite.

“I don’t care what you look like or what you dress like, I just want you to have a good time – this record is meant for people to feel good about themselves and have a good time.” – Mau P

With its dark groove, catchy bassline and minimalist vocal, ‘Dress Code’ urges the listener to “let go and embrace yourself.” This track found its perfect home at Black Book Records, a label founded by Chris Lake intended to create a destination for records that push house music’s boundaries while remaining true to the genre’s heritage. That description pairs perfectly with Mau P’s style and tendency to do the unexpected, with the Dutch producer boasting releases on Repopulate Mars and Afterlife as well.

Black Book Records showcases have sold out some of the most prestigious dance music venues in North America, including Space Miami and Brooklyn Mirage. This further proves the label and Mau P as an ideal pairing, with the latter selling out shows worldwide within the first 12 months of his career, and landing Tomorrowland’s top 2 most played tracks (‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ & ‘Metro’).

With Black Book Records’ discovery-driven stance towards house music, and  Mau P’s own success founded on pushing the boundaries of his own production, this recent release showcases a producer/label match-made-in-heaven.
