Get ready to meet the multi-talented force of nature that is Leah Culver. We were lucky enough to score a chat with this gifted DJ, producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist at Imagine Festival. We had fun passing the “cute little baby bunny” microphone back and forth while laughing and getting personal. Leah’s vibe is all about gratitude, humility, and keeping it real. And let’s not forget her insane talent! Her exciting set took us on a wild ride through dubstep, hybrid trap, and melodic dubstep, with a dash of live singing and a special guest appearance by Frank Zummo of Sum 41 on drums. If you couldn’t tell already, Leah Culver is the total package.
As we dived into Leah Culver’s artistic odyssey, her eyes sparkled with passion and her voice radiated warmth. Born into a super musical family, Leah’s been singing, writing, guitar-strumming, and drumming since forever. Leah Culver’s vibe oozes gratitude and humility, like a gentle embrace. She shared how Atlanta’s music scene embraced her, and her journey unfolded organically. Her energy is contagious, making you feel calm and like you’re part of her musical journey, basking in the joy and magic she creates. She shared how she got her start in Atlanta’s local scene and how she’s always felt like she’s “right where she’s meant to be” on her music journey:
“I grew up with my middle brother playing Drum and Bass to me my whole childhood…I feel like everything I’m doing right now is kinda like perfectly aligned with the music I should be making. And I’m grateful to have found and been comfortable in making the music I wanna make instead of what people have told me to. I’m really grateful that the music I’m making is kinda alternative…This sounds so abstract but I sound like such an INFP,” she says with a hearty laugh.
As I posed each question, Leah Culver’s responses radiated warmth and sincerity, her words infused with an unmistakable sense of gratitude, grounding, vulnerability, and authenticity. When I asked what guidance she’d offer her younger self, her reply embraced the question with loving kindness, like a gentle hug that wrapped around her younger years, whispering reassurances of resilience and promise. She responded:
I would tell her it’ll be okay. Do what you want to do and…I think if I could talk to my younger self, you’re going to have no idea the things that are going to happen. But you SO got it. Somehow on this string life path, you just get pulled along it, and there’s NOTHING that can happen that you can’t handle. You don’t know your own strength until you’re there, and you’ll always be alright. I would hold her – ‘it’s going to be okay. ‘ Just do what you’re meant to do.
Tune in for the rest of the interview to discover the advice she’d give to her younger self, how she prioritizes mental health, and what’s on the horizon for her in 2023 and beyond!
