We got to sit down with Stefania Aronin aka NALA during the first day of Groove Cruise as she was sinking into the vibes of her first music cruise, ever. We talked about her beginnings from DJing in college at FYU, to helping other girls learn how to DJ and getting them booked through the collective she had created back in Miami, YO YO GIRL. After attending her first Miami Music Week, she was blown away that there was a possibility of having a career in the music industry and was inspired to make space for herself in the industry. Stefania’s journey went from thinking she wanted to get into PR to kicking off her DJ career before finally diving into music production and becoming the artist that she is today. Nala shared her fun yet tiring career as a local DJ and how she eventually broke free from that grind, much due to the mandatory lockdown of the global pandemic. As many struggled with the pause of everything, she actually had the time to truly figure out her style, dive deeper into her production to find her sound, build up her virtual turned real life audience, and work closely with Claude Von Stroke himself who also encouraged her to use her own vocals in her tracks. At Neon Owl, we’re all about connecting artists and fans to help charities around the world. Stefania shared no lack of interest when we asked her about social causes she cared for; ranging from End Overdose, ACLU, to environmental issues which were all close to her heart.

Watch the full interview to find out some of her biggest inspirations from the girl punk rock era and where she takes a ton of her influences from when making music. While Nala was just getting acclimated to her first Groove Cruise ever, we can confirm that we caught her throughout the entire 5 days having a complete blast! It was even more of a riot vibing out to her set on the Bahamas Islands along with her friends LP Giobbi and Sofi Tukker.
