Neon Owl x Groove Cruise Interview : Setting Sail with Unicorn Casmalia

Casmalia’s name has been popping up all over at festivals and shows recently. We were excited to catch her on her first Groove Cruise back in October from LA to Cabo, and can’t wait to see her again for another back to back cruise this month from Miami to Labadee island. She played multiple sets throughout the cruise; from an epic daytime pool set, late night casino b2b with Speaker Honey, to the theater and more. It was incredible to watch her fit in with the #GCFAM immediately as if she had been many times before.

Casmalia (Shannon Camp) has always been passionate about music and learned to be classically trained before pursuing a career in dance music. But her earliest inspirations that helped make the jump to start her music career ranged from Porter Robinson, Madeon, to Skrillex. As an independent artist up until very recently, she has built her brand and capitalized on opportunities from playing shows as big as Coachella. Note: Casmalia is now managed by 10 G Management.

Casmalia is passionate about teaching and inspiring girls to DJ, and spends her time outside of her own music as a mentor as well. At the same time, she also puts an emphasis on being judged for her individual merit, regardless of gender. At the last Whet Foundation Destination Donation experience in Cabo, she came with us to the orphanage where we got to hang out with the kids, teach them how to DJ, do face painting, play soccer, among many other fun activities. It was heartwarming to see artists like Lavelle, Sam WOLFE, John Beaver, DJ IDeal, Lady Verse, and of course Casmalia herself, wake up bright and early for a worthy cause.
