On February 18th and 19th, we had the opportunity to attend one of the most thrilling events of the year so far: the Spring Festival Lunar New Year Celebration at Avant Gardner in Brooklyn, NY. This two-day festival, organized by Pulse Events, a promoter specializing in merging electronic music and Asian culture, showcased some of the EDM scene’s biggest names, including SLANDER, Alan Walker, What So Not, Trivecta, Henry Fong, and 4B. For their second time hosting this event, they excelled in creating a festive atmosphere with decorations, activities, and performances inspired by Chinese New Year. There was a pop-up night market offering food and drinks, a captivating lion dance show, and even a red envelope giveaway with enticing prizes. It felt as though we had been transported to another world for two unforgettable nights.

Arriving at Avant Gardner on Sunday night, we were just in time to catch our friend Trivecta’s set at the Great Hall. He stayed true to his melodic bass sound, featuring tracks from his first album, striking a perfect balance of emotion and energy. We loved every minute of it and eagerly anticipate the release of his second album later this year. Up next was the night’s headliner, SLANDER, who took command of the Great Hall with their signature tracks like “Love is Gone” and “Walk on Water”. SLANDER’s set was an emotional roller coaster that left the entire audience truly moved.

The festivities continued on Monday night with 4B spinning hard-hitting trap and jersey club beats, while What So Not electrified the King’s Hall with his experimental bass and house sounds. The grand finale of the second night was Alan Walker’s performance in the Great Hall. He brought his distinctive EDM-pop crossover style to the stage, playing some of his global hits that filled us with nostalgia. With boundless energy, he engaged with the crowd and got everyone hyped, providing a perfect conclusion to the festival.
