Festival organizers, artists, and the crowd all played their part to make sure the show went on, adjusting plans and taking safety precautions to keep  the vibe alive. Rain or shine, the energy was relentless, with fans wearing ponchos, huddling together under tarps, and turning rainy moments into spontaneous dance sessions. It was proof that the spirit of Breakaway is unbreakable, and the determination to keep the music going was felt at every corner of the festival.

Elevated viewing platforms provided unparalleled views of headliners like Marshmello, Alesso, and FISHER, making every moment feel larger than life. The Ultra VIP terrace was the ultimate way to watch the action unfold, complete with a drink in hand and the perfect vantage point to soak in all the magic.

Friday Highlights

  • Marshmello: As one of the headliners, Marshmello brought his signature blend of pop and EDM that had the crowd jumping, even with the rain coming down. His set was a perfect mix of fan favorites and newer hits, with the crowd singing along to every word. Oddly enough Marshmello threw down some heavy dubstep!
  • Chase & Status: The UK duo brought their signature drum and bass energy, keeping the crowd moving with their high-intensity beats. Their set was filled with powerful drops, especially their hit song Badadan.
  • Alesso: Alesso’s set on Friday night was nothing short of cinematic. With the skies finally clearing, his progressive house anthems brought a sense of euphoria to the festival grounds, and the visuals were perfectly synced to create a mesmerizing experience.

Saturday Highlights

  • FISHER: Known for his infectious house grooves, FISHER kept the energy high with his bass-thumping set. His transitions were smooth, and the crowd fed off his enthusiasm, creating an electrifying atmosphere that didn’t let up.
  • Loud Luxury: Loud Luxury brought their feel-good vibes to the stage, combining sing-along hits with deep, driving beats. Their chemistry on stage was palpable, and their set was full of moments that had everyone in the crowd dancing with their hands in the air.

The lineup wasn’t just about the big names; it was a celebration of talent across the spectrum. Loud Luxury, Knock2, and Chase & Status brought their unique flavors, while local talent reminded us of the thriving music scene that North Carolina has to offer. The Silent Disco, featuring over 30 local DJs, became an oasis of sound where people danced through the night, headphones on, sharing an intimate yet collective experience even after the storm had tried to quiet things down.
