The feels get real with KISNOU on every single track he’s produced so far. 18 year old producer Giuseppe Tria showcases his depth and takes us on a journey with his dubstep and melodic sounds. His latest single “We’ll Meet Again” will have you melting into earth and synchronizing with the universe.
Tell us something you are excited about or grateful for!
I’ll always be grateful for having the chance to be happy. Sometimes I just think how lucky I am to be what I am now. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my closest friends and also for my mother, which helped me a lot.
How did the name Kisnou come about?
It comes from an alteration of the word Kismet, which means fate.
How long has it been since you’ve started to make music?
I started making music around March 2015.
What influenced the start to your music career?
Well, I can say it all started thanks to Mrsuicidesheep. I used to listen to music on that youtube channel, since it had some thousands of subscribers. It has grown a lot now and I still visit it almost everyday. Anyway, music has always been a part of my life, and it helped me many, many times. It is my salvation.
Your sound is very unique, melodic, and calming, but still manages to take us on a journey. What influenced your sound?
I would name a whole list of artists, but the one that has really influenced me is Koda. His music helped me a lot, I almost learnt all of his songs by heart and I was introduced to him thanks to Mrsuicidesheep. His music is wonderful, especially if you are able to understand it. Every song he writes has something special, and I’ve listened to a lot of music to say it. I also had the chance to talk to him, years ago, and he was really nice. He probably doesn’t even know that I started making music, and that I also made a tribute to his song “Glass Veil”, but I hope I’ll be able to tell him one day!
What do you want people to feel when listening to your music?
I want people to feel. Nothing less, nothing more. Hoping to feel “something” from them, would be some kind of restriction. I want people to feel, imagine and my music has to help in this process, it has to be your wings, then you’ll decide where to fly.
What has been the most enjoyable part of making music?
The most enjoyable part of making music is discovering. You keep discovering ways to work on a track, and how many directions it may take. You keep discovering your own skills, and also your own style. The most important thing is that music can free your mind, and if you are sad, or happy, it will always be there waiting for you to give it a life.
What is the most difficult thing?
The most difficult thing is feeling yourself comfortable with your music. You can have the most famous song in the world, but if you are not proud of it, you won’t feel any passion. I tend to see music as a car: it can be the most beautiful car, but if the engine doesn’t work well, that car won’t take you anywhere. So, the producer and his feelings, are the engine of this car, and this car, is music. You need to go far, far away with it.
Do you ever get artistic blocks? If so, what do you do to overcome them?
Of course I do. I try not to hate those moments though, it’s natural. If I can’t make something new, I accept it. My music has to give voice to my thoughts, or my feelings, so I would never force the situation. So If I get stuck, that means it’s not the right moment. What I do to solve this problem is just doing something else I like: exploring some other ways to make music, experimenting, discovering new sounds or even just relaxing without even thinking about it.
What’s been your favorite track produced so far and why?
I think the best track I’ve made is “Tale of a man who whispered to flowers”. I don’t really know how it came out. I only know that I wrote that song after a particular experience I’ve been through. I started playing the piano thinking about that. I completed that song in one single day, and I managed to create something special, something that can really take you to a magical adventure.
What can we expect to see from KISNOU in the next year?
In this whole new year, you can expect something bigger, better than before. I keep improving my own skills, and that means you are going to get only better stuff. I’m also starting to work here and there: I’ll probably be writing some melodies for a smartwatch, and I’ll write some soundtracks for a game(I really hope so). Also, I still can’t say that much, but I’m probably going to join a project with my good friend Silencyde.
Who are your greatest musical influences?
Well, there are many many artists that influenced my music, and I should probably say thanks to them because they inspired me to make music. I’d like to say that everyone has influenced me, from Rocket Science or Alaskan Tapes to Tom Day, Blackmill, Emancipator, Aeuria and many others. But If I have to choose, the greatest influences would probably be Koda, Asa and Tom Day.
Favorite track of all time?
Wow, tough question! My favourite track of all time would probably be.. I still don’t know, I guess the first place would go to one of the most beautiful tracks I’ve ever heard, which is called The Last Stand, made by Koda.
Favorite food in the world?
Pizza. Nothing else.
If your house was on fire, what would you save?
I’d save my own family. I usually like to be alone, but I’ll always care about my parents. And my cats.
Favorite place in the world?
I have visited Greece for many years and even If I don’t really like the sea,I always want to get back there, it feels like home to me. I’d also like to visit Norway one day, I think that I’d really enjoy it!
If you weren’t a producer, what career would you pursue?
I really like photography, but I had to give up since I think that a photographer needs to travel, and I still can’t find enough time to go around the world and visit the places I’d like to take a picture of. I also really like drawings and digital art, but I’ve always been so bad at it!
Tell us about a guilty pleasure of yours.
I’d probably eat chocolate for my whole life.
Do you have an addition? If so, to what?
I’m addicted to loneliness. Some people hate it, while I need it. I’m not saying that I hate people, but I’ll always need a moment, hours or even days to stay alone.
Describe yourself with 3 words.
Calm, peaceful, warm-hearted.
If you could go back in time to meet someone, who would it be?
Mhh… There are many people I’d like to meet, but the most interesting ones would be Beethoven, or Van Gogh.
Neon Owl is all about giving back to charities around the world. Is there a specific charity or cause you feel passionate about or would like to see us work with?
Knowing all the problems the world is going through now, I’d really like if people could know what they are doing to it. We don’t need to look for another planet, Earth is our home and we need to protect it.
What could the music industry use less or more of?
Music industry should be the way to make people listen to good music. And when I say good music I mean music that comes from the heart. The world is full of music made just to make money, and real artists keep getting crushed by those “commercial giants”. Thanks to the internet, I’ve discovered so many underrated artists that should be known by the world.
What could the world use more or less of?
The world could be more peaceful. People can’t still accept the fact that we are living on the same planet, and we need to work together. We’re all humans, and we need to love each other. Love, in all of its forms, is the key to a better world.
Any last words for your fans?
“Thank you”. These words are simple, but they express something special. As I said some days ago on my facebook page, I would have stopped making music if it wasn’t for my fans. Reading all your comments means the world to me. I’ve always been an insecure guy, but you kept me motivated, so thank you very much. I promise I’ll give you my best.
What’s the best way for them to connect with you?
There are many ways to stay updated: Soundcloud, Facebook, Youtube..
I’d probably recommend to like my Facebook page. It is the best option if you don’t really like Soundcloud. You can always find my new stuff there, or you can easily contact me to say hi! 🙂
